Sledge: "Sledge doesn`t need shield! Sledge gonna crush you to bloody stumpses!"

I have to say: Sledge is my favorite Borderlands character (I even like him more than Mordecai). Now, here's why:
I can't help but feel that his character is a tad misunderstood. I believe he is quite smart (not quite Einstein either 'cause you know he speaks simplified sentences in third person) but he shows more intelligence than most of the bandits you run into. Also, he seems to care--somewhat--about his minions (if you listen, he complains that you hurt them then gets angry). Somewhat caring is still more caring than what the other bandit leaders had shown. Of course, what's the point of caring when at any moment your comrades will die? So maybe the others are sparing themselves the pain of losing a friend by distancing themselves--still, it's nice to care; in one way or another.

Remember that note he left at the Zephyr wind station? Mofo actually spelled everything right (and we all know how poorly most of the other bandits can spell _{'pis off'}). It appeared he also anticipated the Vault Hunters' oncoming assault by taking the keys and hiding them at his Safe House--guarded by that Roid Rage beast-dude and a mini-army of midgets. Kinda makes me believe that some gears are grinding in his brain somewhere (or maybe he has an advisor--who knows; anything is possible).

And running a mine ain't exactly rocket science but putting the fear of God in your 'employees' with brute strength probably won't get much done either (or maybe that's just me). So, he's getting someone to do something for him (and that takes a few working brain cells _{just saying}).
Remember: this is all my conjecture; none of this has been proven (as far as I know). However, I hope you enjoyed reading this. Let's just say I enjoy analyzing characters.
